Joint Chief Hydrographer of Sri Lanka attended the 1st Hydrographic and Oceanographic Conference

Chief Hydrographer of the Navy and Joint chief hydrographer of the government of Sri Lanka, RAdm KASPK Kariyapperuma attended the 1st Hydrographic and Oceanographic Conference under the Colombo Security Conclave at Goa and Hyderabad from 15th to 18th November 2022. The conference was held in collaboration with CISR- National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), Indian Natioanl Centre for Oceanic information Services (INCOIS) and National Institute of Hydrography (NIH).

The meeting was aimed to provide a platform for a brainstorming session amongst the eminent oceanographers and hydrographers of Indian Ocean Region (IOR) to promote sharing of knowledge and best practices among the littoral nations. Further, it has provided the forum to identify the capabilities and limitations while seeking the avenue to strengthen the collaboration in various disciplines of Ocean sciences and Hydrographic surveys.

Dr. Arulananthan, the principle scientist Head of the Oceanography Division of National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency also took part at the conference representing Oceanography of Sri Lanka. At the end of the conference, mementos were also exchanged between them to signify the conference.
