NMOC and DIILS delegation meets with Commander of the Navy
A delegation led by Mr. Gabrielle Ivan from U.S. Navy’s Meteorological and Oceanographic Command (NMOC) and Mr. David Lee from U.S. Defence Institute of International Legal Studies (DIILS) met with the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda at the Navy Headquarters on 02 Apr 25.
Their four day visit (from 01 to 04 Apr), transpired at an invitation of Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka National Hydrographic Office (NHO), intends to determine technical areas of cooperation and capacity building in order to develop Sri Lanka’s hydrographic capabilities.
During the cordial discussion, the Commander of the Navy and delegation members shared views on key hydrographic issues, focusing on finding solutions to meet the National Hydrographic Office's (NHO) deep-water Multi-Beam Echo Sounder needs and assessing necessary training requirements.
Officials from the U.S. Embassy in Colombo and National Hydrographer of Sri Lanka were also present on this occasion.
