SLNHS Strengthens Student Knowledge in Hydrography

Sri Lanka Navy Hydrographic Service (SLNHS) conducted theory and practical sessions to enhance the knowledge of Hydrography for the undergraduates of Department of Aquaculture & Fisheries, Faculty of Livestock, Fisheries & Nutrition, University of Wayamba on 18 ^th November 2025 at the SLNHS office.

During the session, all students participated in comprehensive modules covering hydrographic survey planning, data acquisition, data processing and the fundamentals of nautical chart production. Additionally, the importance of the Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure (MSDI) web portal and how it can be effectively utilized in supporting academic research were discussed. 

The students demonstrated notable engagement during lectures and displayed considerable enthusiasm in practical sessions, underscoring the increasing interest in Hydrography among university students.
