The National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA), in collaboration with the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), successfully conducted a workshop for the development of the National Competency Standard (NCS) and curriculum for the Hydrographic Junior Survey Technician course. The workshop was held at the Sri Lanka Navy Hydrographic Service (SLNHS) Office, ND Colombo, on 19th February 2026. This programme was organized as a continuation of the previous two workshops conducted for the same purpose.
The main objective of this workshop was to finalize the required standards and curriculum framework to obtain NVQ Level IV for the Survey Recorder III Course conducted at the Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee. Hydrography officers from SLNHS collaboratively participate in the workshop, contributing their professional knowledge under the guidance of the Chief Hydrographer to ensure that the standards meet national vocational qualification requirements.
The successful conclusion of the workshop marks a pivotal step in elevating professional hydrographic training for Survey Recorder sailors and reinforcing the standards for nationally recognized vocational qualifications.
