University Students Gain Insights Into Hydrography And Marine Geospatial Information At The National Hydrographic Office

The National Hydrographic Office welcomed a group of 18 university students from Wayamba University of Sri Lanka and General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) on 27thOctober 2026.

The visiting group comprised 14 students from the Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries at Wayamba University and four students from KDU's Department of Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.

During the visit, the students attended informative lectures on the fundamentals of hydrography, its importance, and its contribution to safe navigation, maritime safety, coastal development, and marine research. The sessions highlighted the role of the Sri Lanka Navy Hydrographic Servicein conducting hydrographic surveys and providing essential marine geospatial information to support maritime activities and national development.
